Rejected by Heaven. Banned from Hell. And apparently Pepper Graves still can't find somewhere to put him.
Meet Stingy Jack, one of Halloween's more troublesome legends.
According to Irish folklore, Jack was a trickster who repeatedly outsmarted the Devil. Unfortunately, being clever enough to aggravate Hell didn't exactly earn him a reservation in Heaven. When Jack died, Heaven rejected him, Hell wouldn't take him, and the Devil sent him away with a burning coal to light his journey.
Jack placed the coal inside a hollowed-out turnip and wandered on.
That wandering figure became “Jack of the Lantern” — the Jack-o'-Lantern—and Irish immigrants eventually brought the tradition to America, where pumpkins proved considerably better carving material than turnips.
Naturally, TSS Outpost funeral director Penelope “Pepper” Graves sees a different problem:
